Paul Villa Paul Villa CEO has continued the same traditions and family values inherent in his Dad. He has developed the business and today, along with his son Sean, guides the company’s expansions into new markets. Sean Villa President, has many years experience in the produce business. Growing up, Sean would join his father Paul during the summers at the Great West Produce office (very early hours) helping out. Sean graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1998, and after two very successful years in the Bay Area, working in sales for IKON Office Solutions, he joined GWP in 2001. Sean developed our Snow Pea and Snap Pea lines, and assumed the role of Sales Manager in 2005. In 2011 Sean took over as President of the company.
Jeff Varon After a 20 year career in management with Sears, Jeff joined Paul at GWP in 1985 to assist in sales. Jeff quickly became a very successful produce salesman handling mixed vegetables, and continues to be one of the top salesmen at Great West.
Brad Heck started his career Alpha Beta and progressed to produce buyer. He joined G&G produce as head buyer. Brad joined GWP in 1990 to develop Nogales product lines and has evolved to one of the top Asparagus salesmen in Southern California. He is happily married for 35 years, with 3 sons.
Bill Rockney Bill cut his teeth in sales working for Coca-Cola. He moved to California and became a street salesman on the 7th street produce market. Bill joined Great West in 1985 heading up lettuce sales and continues as one of our seasoned veterans adding carrots and bells to his sales lines.
Jeff Johnson Jeff started his produce career very early as a jobber on the produce market. He founded Golden Eagle Produce specializing in onion sales and repacking. GWP acquired Golden Eagle in 2009 and Jeff is now heading up re-pack as well as onion and citrus sales at our Vernon operation.
Kevin Johnson Kevin has deep family roots in produce and started working in the business at a very young age. He joined GWP in sales when he moved over from Golden Eagle. Kevin heads up the potato department. Kevin recently took over Strawberry sales and assists Jeff in citrus sales.
Ken Ewalt gained experience in warehouse distribution, procurement, sales and operations at a variety of Southern California food companies. He joined the Ready Pac team in 1997, and was promoted promoted to the position of Vice President/General Manager of the Retail Specialties Division. Ken has also been active in the Fresh Produce Floral Council serving as Chairman of the Board in 2009.
Ben Heck Ben began his career in produce working at Los Angeles Salad. He worked his way up through production to produce buying. He joined GWP in 2006 as sales coordinator and moved to sales assistant in 2008. Ben now handles mixed vegetable sales as well as value added products, melons and yams.
Doug Wakabayashi, with over 21 years in the produce industry, including shipping nationally, Hawaii, and Asia. Knowledgeable in a wide range of regular and specialty produce items. “When shipping globally, I always looked to Great West to provide the right product with freshness and quality that was demanded, ensuring good arrival over long distances. The professionalism and market knowledge of the team at Great West always impressed me.
Michael Damon brings over 30 years experience in the business. From peddling produce in a u-haul to establishing his own company “Damon Distributing, he has a strong knowledge of tomatoes and all product line coming from Mexico. Now with Great West Produce, Michael plans to merge the company product line with all Mexican product sourcing from all port entries, to service customer full line needs, nation-wide.
David Lizzarago Dave is our acting sales coordinator at our Commerce offices. He is responsible for sales support in all departments.
Cisco Jardim, grew up in a large farming and produce distribution family in Zimbabwe, South Africa, He attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Political instability in South Africa, threatened his family business (and after meeting his wife Jamie), he decided to stay. He joined GWP in 2000 as a sales coordinator and quickly transitioned into sales. He handles mixed vegetables to retail and he has developed corn and grapes into top product lines
Cheyne Long, concentrating on Business Finance, graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2014. He has experience in accounting with Supra Shoes and Kr3w Denim. Cheyne joined Great West Produce full time in April of 2014 in sales.
Richard Morales has joined the team at Great West Produce. With friends and family in the business, produce greatly influenced his life, developing a rewarding career. As a Nogales Arizona native, from loading at his Dad’s warehouse, to working for Nogales Shippers, quality inspecting and logistics have been his forte. He sees sales presenting more opportunity and plans to create a balanced, stable relationship with shippers and partners, including Great West Produce.
Daniel Diaz joins the Great West Team with over 25 years’ experience in the Produce Industry He is very knowledgeable in Warehouse Distribution, Inventory Control , Manufacturing, Safety and Food Safety. Daniel joined our team in 2015 after 14 years of excellent service with Ready Pac Produce where he held several key positions . He currently oversees our Great West Repack Operations as well our Safety and Food Safety programs.
Alan Church…Growing up in a produce family, with both his father and grandfather in the produce business Alan started his produce career early in life working summers at his father’s warehouse. He then worked at the LA Wholesale market for almost 15 years at Valley Fruit and Produce. Starting as an assistant salesman in the fruit department and later becoming head salesman for the tropical department. Alan joined Great West in 2016 selling pineapples and other fruits.
Mark Frazee grew up in Reedley, Ca., he calls “the fruit basket of the world.” He earned a business degree at CSULB . He was a Partner in the family farming business, worked for and became a Partner Owner of O’Neil Brokerage in 1986 and blended O’Neil Brokerage into Coast Produce Co, Los Angeles. He started and became Director of Procurement of the produce shipping division “Coast Consolidation.” Mark joined the Great West team in January 2016 and handles the full line of product for our out of state shipping accounts.
